House
The house is accessed via 3 front steps and is not accessible to wheelchairs. If necessary to the guest, walkers are permitted inside of the house. There are chairs available in the house for guests who are unable to stand for an extended period of time. Feel free to call ahead or ask your tour guide if you need further assistance.

Photography
Photography is welcome, we ask that if you share your photographs on any social media site you attempt to connect the photos with Historic Sandusky. Flash photography is not permitted in the house or museum to preserve the artifacts.

Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in all buildings and on the grounds.

Pets
Pets are welcome on the grounds. Pets must be leashed at all times and are not allowed (excluding service animals) in any buildings. Please clean up after your pet.

Food and Drink
The Sandusky grounds are available for picnicking provided that all food and other waste is removed by the visitors. Food, drink and chewing gum are not permitted in the house at any time.

Visiting with Children
Strollers are permitted on the grounds but not in the house. Sandusky is open to children of all ages, however, due to the open nature of house tours, parents of active or restless young children may be asked to remove their child from the house at the discretion of the tour guide.

Severe Weather
Due to the sometimes unpredictable weather of Virginia, Sandusky can close without prior warning, especially in the winter months. During bad weather feel free to contact us to determine open hours. Generally, Sandusky will follow the closing of Lynchburg College, if they are closed due to weather, so is Sandusky.

Restrooms
Restrooms are located adjacent to the Visitor Center and are handicapped accessible.
